One of the top reasons that kids do not play baseball or softball is due to financial ineligibility. Across the country, 3.5 million kids will lose access to sports in the next decade. Friends of Baseball is reversing this trend in Oregon and SW Washington by providing a safety net to boys and girls who want to play ball through our Diamond Dreams scholarship program.
For the 2020 season, we are partnering with leagues again to help make the diamond dreams of children in our community possible. Our 2015 pilot program created a ripple effect in our community that we could not deny and this year, the Friends of Baseball board will be awarding scholarships throughout our service area in Oregon and SW Washington.
Our program this year will provide players within Oregon and SW Washington with scholarship funding through their leagues and/or the needed baseball or softball gear to ensure participation this season!
This is how it works. We are asking league coaches and administrators to act as the nominating party for individuals to be considered for this program (in order to maintain the integrity of the scholarship distribution). Please fill out the below form for up to 5 players you want to nominate. If you have more than 5 players to nominate, please email us at [email protected]to discuss opportunities for us to support your request.
Families: If you have questions about your eligibility for the Diamond Dreams scholarship program, please contact your League Admins directly. Friends of Baseball cannot accept individual scholarship requests from players and/or their families. Each league will determine players and families to nominate based on greatest need.
