Swing for the Fences Gala

Our Annual Fundraiser is held every fall and features an inspiring program featuring music and art and the vision for our work on center stage. The evening also features a fan fest atmosphere with our nearly 350 community leaders, supporters and friends and a live auction with items like premium tickets and batting practice viewing experience with the San Francisco Giants, Seattle Mariners, Chicago Cubs and more!

Our 2021 Swing for the Fences Gala will be held virtually with smaller in person gatherings (as health guidelines allow) with streaming of the virtual event. Save the date for September 23rd!

Play Ball Free Skills Clinic

Major League Baseball and the US Conference of Mayors partnered with Friends of Baseball to bring this fun and community-building Play Ball Clinic to Portland. Due to the impacts of Covid-19 and wanting to keep communities safe, 2020's Play Ball activities were virtual events and drive-thru, social distanced distribution events.
Partners included Imago Dei East, Mannahouse, Abundant Life, C3 Church, Adidas, Dick's Sporting Goods, Hillsboro Hops, Major League Baseball RBI, Portland Pickles, See's Candies, Seattle Mariners, Nikki Brown Clown, Mystique's Fancy Face, Portland Diamond Project.

Annual Coaches Clinic

Less that 10% of all volunteer coaches receive any formal training (according to our partner Positive Coaching Alliance). Each year in late winter (typically February), Friends of Baseball hosts a subsidized clinic for volunteer youth baseball and softball coaches. Leagues pay a nominal rate for the entire league and can send as many coaches as they want to receive expert instruction and coaching philosophies from our trainers.

Opening Day Celebration

In 2015, we partnered with Green Zebra Grocery to host an Opening Day Celebration event in North Portland. This community-building event is a partnership between Green Zebra and North Portland Little League. Community members and baseball and softball families from the league are invited to a fun event on the league's Opening Day featuring baseball-inspired music, games, prizes, and lunch with donation of their choice to support Friends of Baseball's Full Count after school and summer programs. We brought community together for our 3rd Annual Opening Day Celebration in 2017.

Want to host your own Opening Day Celebration event in your community? Please contact us at info@friendsofbaseball.org

We can't wait to celebrate an Opening Day with you!
