Compete. Get Seen. Earn Your Opportunity.

Friends of Baseball is proud to present the 2026 Under the Lights Showcase, an evening dedicated to providing high school baseball players with an opportunity to compete, showcase their skills, and take the next step in their athletic journey.

More than a showcase, this event is rooted in a legacy of creating opportunity.

The name UNDER THE LIGHTS  pays tribute to a groundbreaking moment in baseball history. In 1930, five years before any Major League team played a night game, the Kansas City Monarchs of the Negro Leagues began competing under portable lights. What started as a practical solution to help working-class families attend games became a transformative innovation that expanded access to the sport and changed baseball forever.

Night baseball wasn't created for convenience, it was created to open doors.

That same spirit continues today.

At Friends of Baseball, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to be seen, supported, and challenged to reach their full potential. The Under the Lights Showcase honors that tradition by creating a space where athletes can demonstrate their abilities, compete alongside their peers, and gain exposure in a positive and competitive environment.

Event Highlights
* Skill Evaluations
* Defensive Workouts
* Hitting Evaluations
* Athletic Testing
* Live Competition
* Exposure to Coaches and Evaluators
* Development-Focused Instruction

Who Can Participate?

The showcase is open to **high school baseball players ages 14–18** who are looking to challenge themselves, improve their skills, and compete against athletes from across the region.

Why We Do It

For more than 20 years, Friends of Baseball has worked to create opportunities for young people on and off the field. While baseball serves as our platform, our mission is rooted in helping youth build confidence, leadership skills, meaningful relationships, and pathways to future success.

Under the Lights reflects that commitment.
Because every athlete deserves the opportunity to step into the spotlight.

Annual Coaches Clinic

Picture
Less that 10% of all volunteer coaches receive any formal training (according to our partner Positive Coaching Alliance). Each year in late winter (typically February), Friends of Baseball hosts a subsidized clinic for volunteer youth baseball and softball coaches. Leagues pay a nominal rate for the entire league and can send as many coaches as they want to receive expert instruction and coaching philosophies from our trainers.
